Salzburg trolleybus & e-bus

Salzburg trolleybus & e-bus

The objective was to study the trolleybuses with batteries (IMC). Analyze the impact of on-board battery charging on the infrastructure. Also, analyze whether the vehicle batteries are large enough to cover the last kilometers of the line using battery power.

Description of the project:

Create the model of the trolleybus network plus the batteries in buses (Obus) and validate it with field data. The user can analyse the effect of the charging the batteries in motion. The following questions can be solved: - Which is the maximum temperature of the contact wire? - Is the voltage of the contact wire within the values defined in EN50163? - How much braking energy can be reused to charge electric buses? - Which is the effect on the network (temperature and voltage) when the system runs in normal and degraded mode (1 substation disconnected)?
